Look great, perform better and live longer!
Look great, perform better and live longer!
Years of eating a standard american diet left me no choice but to end up overweight. The combination of fast food, late nights and partying had finally caught up to me. I lived the “sleep when I die” mantra. I was living a life free from regrets, limitations, or worries. I didn't pay much attention to what I consumed, enjoying a wide range of foods without worrying about the consequences.
I did this for years on end up until I hit the age of 40. I ended up in the doctors office for the first time in a long time. As it turned out, I discovered I had high blood pressure, was on the brink of developing diabetes and was facing various other health issues. My doctor prescribed me an assortment of medications. Deep inside I knew I had to do right and turn my life around. I knew I had to quit all my vices, all my destructive behaviors, not only for me but for my family. As much as I knew I needed to change, I wasn’t quite ready to give up my lifestyle or friends. I made halfhearted attempts to exercise at the request of my doctor, but it never lasted long. I'd eventually fall back on what I knew best: bad eating habits and excessive beer drinking.
I struggled to change my old behaviors, quitting many times during my attempts at fitness. However, I eventually committed to a gym membership. The financial commitment helped me to stay on track. It was a tough progression but with the support of others it became rewarding. Over time I embraced new routines and a positive mindset. In the end, I realized I had to distance myself from long-time friends who didn't support my new lifestyle. This change ultimately allowed me to transition to a new way of life, a new way of living.
Embracing my new outlook on life, my parents welcomed the positive changes I made, as I had previously been consumed by numerous bad choices and an unhealthy lifestyle. The road was not easy, but I stayed the course and began developing positive habits—I started reading self-help books, eating clean, and getting proper sleep. I was finally making good, smart and healthy choices both at work and in my personal life. I soon started noticing changes in my body and my mindset grew stronger. Inspiring quotes kept me motivated, resonating deeply with my core beliefs about life and living. I chose not to merely exist but to thrive and live fully. I embraced an active lifestyle, entering a completely different world from where I had been. I started delving deeper into health and the evolution of the mind, gradually transitioning away from other hobbies into the health and wellness domain.
While still at the gym, not long after, I was introduced to a bicycle! At over 40 years in age, I got to ride my first 10-speed carbon fiber bike – what an amazing feeling! A 17-pound bike with 170 pounds of muscle on it (well, almost!). It was an unparalleled experience; I felt like a machine when I climbed onto the bike. The cycling bug bit me hard and I soon switched exclusively to cycling, leaving behind my gym membership. Even though I still do resistance training, my bike is first in line and comes first when it comes to exercise. Cycling is also my source of pleasure and tranquility. It's an integral part of my life. It complements my strength training and keeps me actively engaged in life.
Eating a paleo diet eventually let me into the readings of Mark Sisson. Known for his work in the field of ancestral health and the Primal lifestyle. I soon discovered that his perspectives on primal living were in harmony with my own views. His knowledge and advice on topics related to nutrition, exercise, and overall well-being resonated with me logically. This naturally led me to seek certification from Mark Sisson's Certified Primal Health Coach organization. Having the expertise to promote and support the principles of Primal living for better health and well-being, it was an obvious choice for me to also pursue certifications as a Personal Trainer and Sports Nutrition Coach. These additional credentials have enhanced my ability to guide others on their path to improved fitness and optimal nutrition.
My desire is to evoke change in others and show the potential for transformation. It’s never too late! Change can be a difficult task, and as such, I want to help others cross that bridge to live a clean, healthy life.
If I had hired a coach, my journey could have been much faster and efficient, saving me a significant amount of time and money.
Living a Primal Life is a 24-7 endeavor. It's not just a lifestyle, but a way of existence. I'm constantly nurturing my body and mind. To make each day count. You only got one shot at this. Prioritizing my well-being above all else, I decided to fully commit to pursuing my passion and helping others.
